Set-up |
Responsibility: Start time 6:00 AM or Night Before: Set up directional signs at all entrances to GMU, around Patriot Circle and the intersections of 123 and University, 123 and Braddock, Braddock and south entrance to GMU, Roberts Lane and entrance to GMU. In addition, individuals would also be responsible to take down signs at noon and return signs to registration area.
Total Needed: 2 volunteers with vehicles
Responsibility: Start time 6:30 AM: Set up banners at registration site, beginning of Circle of Hope route and at Miracle Mile point along route. In addition, individuals would also be responsible to take down banners at noon and return signs to registration area.
Total Needed: 2 volunteers
Responsibility: Start time 6:00 AM: Set up tables and chairs at designated site area for registration, volunteers, brain injury awareness fair, award ceremony, water station, food stations, etc. In addition, individuals would also be responsible to take down tables and chairs at noon and return to registration area.

Prevention Table |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:30 AM. BI Prevention. Helmet Give-A-Way

Volunteer Sign-in booth |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:00 AM. Welcome volunteers. Hand them their responsibility list as well as a thank you bag. Direct to volunteer site.

Breakfast |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:00 AM. Maintain area and cleanness. Will work with a representative from Einstein Bros. Bagels. (Water station)

8K Route |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:30 AM. Maintain area, cleanness. Hand water bottles to runners. Every ½ mile water station with 2 volunteers
Total needed: 6 volunteers (3 stations x 2 volunteers = 6 volunteers) |
Circle of Hope Route |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:30 AM. Maintain area, cleanness. Hand water bottles to runners. Station ½ way into walk and 2 stations in quad area
Total needed: 6 volunteers (3 stations x 2 volunteers = 6 volunteers) |
Start Marshals |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:30 AM. Line up participants according to start order for both the 8K course and all other run/walk events. i.e. runners then walkers in an orderly fashion.
Total needed: 8 volunteers (4 for each course) |
Course Marshals |
Responsibility: Start time: 8:00 AM. Look for runners or walkers who may be showing signs of fatigue or injury and request pick-up car. Pick-up and return walkie-talkie at volunteer sign-in booth.
8K Route- every ¼ mile
Total needed: 6 volunteers
Circle of Hope Route
Locations: 1 by Theater (?) and 3 in quad at points
Total needed: 4 volunteers |
Emergency Vehicles/Set-up and Trash Pick-up |
Responsibility: Start time: 7:00 AM. Set up water stations with a trash can around Patriot Circle. Three vehicles to wait by parking Lot G for a call from a marshal to pick up a fatigued runner or walker. End of race, noon, vehicles drive around outside loop and pick up trash. Return trash to registration area. Assign a lead car and person to stand by marshal during race near parking Lot G.

Circle of Hope Set-up and Clean-up |
Responsibility: Start time 7:00 AM. Set up water stations with trashcans around Circle of Hope course. In addition, at noon, walk in quad area and pick up all trash and return to registration area.
Total needed: 4 volunteers |
Course Supporters |
Responsibility: Start time 8:30 AM. Cheer on participants, on both courses, at intersections around route where we do not have Marshals or water stops and at Miracle Mile mark.
Total Needed: As many as possible. However, we do not want individuals to do this if they have a desire to run/walk the race. |
